Considering a move, help! I teach k-12 vocal music at a school where I have/had a vision to improve the culture of singing (very sports focused small school) to build a choir program, which will take several years (2 years done). Been working diligently with my elem. music classes to create a climate where students are comfortable/willing to sing. I'm estimating 3 years to see middle school students buy in, and 5-6 years before my high school program sees any fruit of that labor. Stay? Move on?

Been welding for my company for 13+ yrs and I think it’s time for a change. The culture has completely changed and became toxic. district is asking us to hand out instruments to kids before school starts.... but they are untested assigned kids..... they tell us to do this at the same time we are supossed to be in district training. then they say if it's a problem just do it earlier. what happens if you give a beginner a school instrument before they actually start instruction? I'll go first- last school principal with no musical training forces all 7th grade to do band and said in oreder to get them interested in playing an instrument I need to get in front of them and play every instrument for the students and talk indef about them each day. Meanwhile they would be popping in to make sure I'm teaching that way because I wasn't trusted 'to do as I'm told.'
