Writers should know the basics of PowerPoint and have a basic understanding of how to put a deck together.
An art director should lead the design and finesse and finalize the deck. But writers should have the basic etiquette of formatting (bold, italicize, indents and tabs), match the font size or ideally copy and paste a templated page.
Scream this from the rooftops
POWERPOINT????
Art ACD here. I feel like writers (acd/cd level) should be able to build a skeleton deck to help storytelling but should rely on art to make it “pretty”
Side note. No creative should have the responsibility of ppt 🫠

AD always designs the deck. Writer writes whatever is on the slides and the creative team collaborates to put it all together. For a creative deck at least.
Figma above all. Everyone can work simultaneously and is super simple to use. Unless you need it in a specific file type. But PPT is trash. At least use keynote
If the deck is a matter of duplicating the last deck and updating a few text boxes and swapping out a couple images, then IMO a CW is just as capable an an AD to get the deck started. Generally it’s the AD’s role to do the deck, but if an AD slammed, it’s a big help for a CW to get this busy work out of the way for the AD.
Do you want to be a Creative Director? Then own slides. Someone else can make it pretty, but you should absolutely be making run up slides and interstitial slides for your own work. PowerPoint and Google Slides and Canva are all basically the same. Pick one. Don’t make the mistake of thinking as a creative your job is to just come up with ad ideas. You have to own the whole process.
I hope AI takes this responsibility over. Creatives can focus on the actual ideas.

It’s part of the job. You have to make the deck look good if you want to sell the work.
why would it not be your responsibility to articulate your ideas in the appropriate format?
grade school kids can use PowerPoint, it’s not beyond your abilities
