Their appeal is looking good in the rear view of my civic :^)

Vtec!!!!

They appeal to people that want to go fast but don't have a lot of money to spend.

They've been working hard to get away from being considered a trashy car in the late 70s and into the mid 90s. They've succeeded, I think. Incredible engineering feats. I wouldn't want one, still, but they're pretty damn incredible for the money.

like

OP. GM has invested heavily in making the car look and feel less cheap as far as the interior and cosmetics go. But the real appeal since 1997 has been the performance. That was the year the finally got serious about cornering, braking, weight balance, and the drivetrain. I haven't had a chance to drive the newest C8 model yet but the previous C7 version was impressive for a mass produced vehicle.

like

The C7s and C8s are amazing cars, especially the higher end models (Z06 example. Definitely a new generation of car that can compete performance wise with the big boys

like

Not even compete. The zo6 and zr1s are out performing cars 2x their price.

Made in the U.S.A (or at least made by a company that was made in the U.S.A)

like

Appeals to old white men, typically in the south, who want to drive straight (curves aren’t great in this car) who can not afford a sportier car.

like

Mid engine sports car. Good bang for buck.

Best reserved for those with a late life crisis who don't have crippling low back issues

like

Omg. You've obviously never stomped on the pedal in a car with an LS engine. If you have, you'd know

like

It goes fast and it looks cool

Historically they have been America's sports car. That's a lot of it. The price point makes it attractive to buyers who want a fast 2 seater without paying the price for a competitors car. (Viper, Porsche, Ferrari, etc)

Cheap speed, that’s it. Just like how the S2000 found appeal.

I think people have been attracted to things fast and cheap for a while - beyond cars.

The vroom makes me go six to midnight

They’re cheap? I see prices at 75K

Looks cool, goes fast, is American, and price is within reach of middle class dudes

NFW- I just had a good laugh. Earlier today I was on a video conference call reviewing a Private Label Agreement template with a larger company who wishes to brand label products we develop and manufacture. We came to a very one-sided provision and my sales VP stated “for this one, how can we just say ‘hell no’ ...nicely?” The other person on the call said we can replace the wording with just NFW (no f@$* way) and I said “I will have to add that to the defined terms section so it’s clear”
