Could anyone walk me through what typically occurs during a layoff notification call with HR/talent? I’m particularly concerned about the document signing timeline. As someone over 55, I understand I’m legally entitled to a 21-day review period under the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) before signing any severance agreement. What are the practical implications of taking the full 21 days — does it affect anything in the process?

How long did you work for them ? 6 months. 6 years, etc…. Tenure will matter to squeeze some more out of them.

What are your concerns about the separation agreement? If that’s the law, it’s the law, but good to understand your specific worry here.

This was my timeline. I was notified on Jan 9 that my last day would be Jan 31. I was given a 2 page document that outlined my severance info. On my last day, I had a call with HR and received my exit agreement. They didn’t pay any severance until I signed it. I had until Feb 20 to sign. It basically said I release all claims and won’t say anything negative about the company or its executives and I won’t discuss the agreement or my separation terms with anyone in or out of the company. I signed it and got my severance the next week/

Hello,

Currently, in accenture. I have had very bad billable hours and not much achievement this fiscal year. I am worried of getting fired, so i applied for another job. Got offered may be 5% above my current pay with 5k bonus, but in lower level at Deloitte. I think working lower level will give me more opportunities to learn as i think i have lot to learn. I made decision based on my gut and accepted the offer. I have not talked to anyone on accenture side yet. What you think?

So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. I have a whole bunch of certifications in my industry…but just no formal degree. (cont'd)

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
