Could you share how direct reporting typically works at the big 4, particularly for managers and above — for example, whether reporting is primarily to local office leadership or to sub-service line leadership?

It really depends on the service line and team. I’ve been at both EY and KPMG.

At EY I was on a larger team in a large office. As a manager I worked with say 3-5 Senior Managers and MDs in the same office, and perhaps 2-3 in other offices. My Counselor was in my office. I was evaluated by the partners and managers in my office. In recent years, staffing has moved to a more national model.

At KPMG I’m on a national team. I don’t really work with anyone in my city. As a SM/Director now, I work with 6-8 Partners and MDs around the country. My PML is in a different city. Our performance reviews are national. There are also city specific year end reviews that I also join, but I/my team are carved out separately.

I’m a SM and I report to a non-existing partner with one foot out the door.

funny

Just depends on client. Im a SM but report directly to partners/MDs & have done so since I was a manager. On a larger client with just 1 partner, it would probably be more common for managers/SM to report to directors

How big is to big for an initial investment property. Theres a 20 SFH portfolio for sale by me for about a mil. Is this to big to start with initially? I'm less worried about the Financials (feel comfortable on that end) and more worried about the managerial aspect.

Hi all, I’m in the north east metro area and due to the current RE market we decided to look into PA specifically Lancaster. Anyone in this market and have any thoughts on where it’s headed? We’re looking purchasing a single family property all cash at 110k that rents for $1100 a month. The last owner bought for 35k like 15 years ago 😩 but hoping buying and holding for a few years will give a equal or greater returns over the long run.

This might be a long shot but I'm looking for a volunteer who is trying to break into a federal career. Maybe a transitioning veteran, recent grad, or career-changer.

I'm pursuing my master career coaching cert and need to do a recorded 45-minute session. You don't have to be identified if you don't want to.

The single session is all I'm asking but could certainly turn into a longer lasting coaching relationship (at no cost), if you like.
