From JFK, take LIRR to Penn station. From there, if you have the $ to spend then take Amtrak to Philly. Or cheaper option- take NJT to Trenton and then have someone pick him up from Trenton train station or take Septa to Philly.
Amtrak?
Lol are you my brother? I visited him in Philly once, same itinerary, and somehow ended up on the NYC Chinatown bus. Free wifi tho! 😆
Amtrak is actually stupidly easy, but getting from JFK to penn station is a pain in the butt
You can either take Amtrak to penn station and then transfer to the Long Island commuter train (takes you to JFK) or can take greyhound to port authority and from there get on a shuttle bus straight to JFK. If you book far enough in advance, Amtrak will be a more pleasant ride but the other option is fine too. Have done both
So no one tried actual shuttle bus? Worried he'll be confused with Amtrak/Greyhound.
Op- it's not that hard. We used to go backpacking to places no one ever heard of. He/she will be fine. They can ask someone if they get lost. We are usually nicer to people with European accent :)
OP it's really easy. As mentioned if he/she takes LIRR, it takes you right to penn station where they can get on a train and head to Philly. OR if they take the shuttle from JFK to port authority (the greyhound station) it's like $17 or something and then they can just get on a bus right at the station and head to Philly
Just tell him to go back to Europe - that's a crazy drive you don't deserve this right now 👹👹👹
Haha! Thanks all!
