Hi Editors!
What did your transition from AE to editor look like?

5 months ago I joined an advertising post house as a full-time AE. Through the support of a lead editor at the company I found my way into making cuts for the company’s most prestigious client. At this point, I’ve been the sole editor of one global campaign and a co-editor of another, in addition to cutting many social media videos. It’s only 5 months but I can’t help feel that my title doesn’t reflect the work I actually do.

It will takes years and years in a post house to move from AE to editor. Be patient and keep up the hard work. Work on client relationships and building a killer reel.

Ask the company about your future and keep an open discussion.

Thanks! Appreciate the advice.

Being a great assistant editor is all about doing work that isn’t reflected in your title. It’s a support role and an apprenticeship where you learn and perform bits of all sorts of disparate titles to shepherd the work to deliverable. It’s literally years not months of your career but coming up that way guarantees a better, wiser, more disciplined editor in my opinion

From my experience from Agency to Post - keep working on fostering creative and client relationships. If you can pull business you can be rostered. Don’t let old school editors tell you otherwise.

Skipped it. Build a reel on the side. Cut great work for free.

Took me 4 years to make the jump! Key was killling it as both an AE and Editor. Sometimes being too good of an AE can make you irreplaceable though so tricky line to balance

Hello Everyone,

I am in search of a Project Manager role. I have about 4 + years experience managing projects and in consulting.

I am about concluding the google certificate in project management, and one unique think I bring into any team is my strategic thinking and ability to solve problems in record time.

I am based in Canada and a remote role will be great.

I anticipate your responses and recommendations thank you very much.

This is my first job in a large corporate company, and I’m trying to gauge how long it normally takes to move from entry level to another internal position in the insurance industry. I have been applying internally for a year now and I am wondering if this is normal or if my company is just slow? I am a top performer, with great metrics, and I have some wonderful connections I’ve made who support me. I just can’t seem to move up. How long did it take you to move up? How many tries did it take?

Considering joining a small 50-person company as the only attorney (prior attorney is retiring). (I am currently in-house at a F50). For others who have done the same path, what surprises did you have when moving from a large company to a small one?

For example, it sounds like I should not expect a document management system, based on a prior post in this bowl. I’m guessing expenses like state bar fees and cell phone are not reimbursed.

Any advice on things to expect (or not expect)?
