Pappy at msrp in tristate area. 🤪
Pro
Gonna be searching a long time lol. best deals I’ve found have been 1.5-3x msrp on most of the middle of the road allocated stuff in tristate area. Btac, super high end eh Taylor’s, pappys…forget about it
I scored 2 bottles of 117 after doing an Old Forester tour a few weeks back. Delicious stuff.
I don’t search for that kind of stuff. Back in the day I used to pick up Eagle Rare for sub $30 and it was good. Now I have bottles I know I can always find that I enjoy. If I happen to be somewhere and there is something “rare” I may pick it up but never for a ridiculous mark up
Nice, you’re smarter than me (and countless others).
Some of favorites started to disappear and it triggered what I’ll call an unreasonable response. And I don’t have the most discerning palette, so there’s no great reason for me to have the collection I now have.
I don’t have any leads but can tell you that Parker’s is 💯💯💯

Pricing on PH 16th DB is ridiculous

Austin Nichols Wild Turkey 8 or 12 year. Preferably from 97 and below. I know it’s a pipe dream.
I love that WT 12 year export ...
I’ve gotten lucky with Jr twice in the last year…paid retail but with the contingency you buy $x of other stuff…I much prefer that over a single bottle jacked up. I get what I was after for same price but get to try a few other things…
Got it. I tend to agree with C1 but I suppose it depends on how much in total I’m spending, in same transaction or within a given time period.
I also understand the position that stores can be put in regarding allocation (i.e., must achieve a threshold in sales volume and/or buy X cases of A to get Y bottles of B).
I’d buy a purple top on sight. 117 HAS was amazing. By far my biggest unicorn is King of Kentucky.

Have found stagg JR a few places, but it’s usually around 300-350
Very good price fmc
simple man here love wt American honey. would like a stronger version. like a 101honey
To each his own. I think every proofed-down whiskey should have a barrel proof version
Just looking for a 1792 Port Finish for under $500 or trade.
Wow, I had no idea this got up so high. The only other finished whiskeys I’ve seen this expensive are Bardstown’s Chateau de Labaude (sp?) and Belle Meade Honey.
Have you tried it? Is it the best of the port finished whiskeys?
I can find tons of bourbons that are allocated but refuse to pay prices more than an auction house would cost. Example, Thomas Handy I can find at 3 different stores for $900. A 10 year old rip is $1,000 at 3 liquor stores near me and a 15 year Pappy is $1,500
Yeah, I’ve seen these too, definitely in multiple places in NYC. 1500 for PVW15 isn’t horrible, and it was over 2K at one point (secondary)
Stagg and Papy for now. At reasonable prices because you can easily find them at 2-5x MSRP.
Been hunting a lot in the past few months and found some nice bottles but wasn’t always impressed… if it wasn’t for the high prices, I doubt I would try so hard to find what’s special about them.
