Know that unlimited PTO is a scam but it’s still better than what Omnicom’s new PTO is. In fact, the new benefits package Omni is offering is universally terrible.
Please stay with your current agency. Whatever you do, don’t work for an Omnicom agency.
Pro
last in, first out. don’t take an omni job right now. how does ur current agency react to counter offers? might be worth telling them you don’t want to leave but you got this offer… maybe they could meet you in the middle.
What city are you and who is the client team?Understand your frustration at current agency, but Omnicom layoffs will continue probably thru June.
I hate discouraging someone who is ambitious and trying their best to thrive, but I’ve been in this situation twice before and watched many colleagues go through it. The difference was our economy and industry were much stronger, more stable, with no looming mergers/layoffs in sight. I respect that OP doesn’t want to share the client, but unless it’s a career changing opportunity then I wouldn’t make any moves to that holdco until after 2Q ‘26.
I would do anything to not be at Omnicom and I love our client and their team to death. But I am constantly so scared :)
Rising Star
I would definitely stay put unless the pay raise is life-changing
I think job stability is still better than Omnicom (at least for the time being)
Do not under any circumstances join an Omnicrom agency right now. They’re definitely going to have layoffs and FIFO will probably be a very real thing.
Leadership teams are merging and leaders are going to want to protect their legacy agency members and that in and off itself will be a pissing war.
Which leaves new employees as easy front line kills.
IN LESS you’re making way below market, then you might stay come layoff time as they will want to keep cheap labor.
Keep in mind omnicrom doesn’t guarantee contributions to your 401k, no client is worth your future.
Be sure to weigh the pro/cons from your current employer with the Omnicom. Not only should you consider pay, but weigh the benefits, are you WFH or Hybrid. If you are going into the office, consider the costs. Do they have a path for development and further growth that seems to be important for you, then you can make a educated decision.
You could easily be leaving 5-8k on the table with 401k matching alone. suggesting someone look at the entirety of their offer, keeping in mind the fact that bonuses and raises are often years out, if ever, is not dramatic… it’s responsible.
If you really like the new job and would be willing to leave your current gig for it, why not try and use the new job offer as leverage for a promo at your current agency? Even in this economy, I’ve seen multiple people at my agency do this.
Contrary to popular belief, if you are actually an asset to the agency and doing a good job they will fight to keep you. With that being said you have to be willing to leave if they say no.
Leverage the offer?
Also, if you have an offer that means you’re marketable, keep your job and find another opportunity- you have a huge leg up from unemployed people in the market. Don’t jump ship from one toxic agency to another.
I would only jump to an omnicom agency if you can work in a generous vacation package and significant pay raise. At least 4 weeks, possibly 5 if you’re VP level. Then you get 10 sick / personal on top of that. Could also use Omnicom’s unreliable 401k match as leverage for an even higher salary, bc when they don’t match, their package is dramatically inferior to competitors. Omnicom has the right to decide to contribute nothing.
