Currently B4 Audit. Torn between either FP&A at PE firm, or Technical Accounting at another B4. Money is better at the PE firm, but not entirely sold on the FP&A role. Can anyone with some background in either provide some context?

Do you mind sharing which big four AAS that is? I thought most are on hiring freeze

Disagree with SC1, CMAAS>FAAS>>AAS>>Deloitte controllership and ARA.

There’s a large variety of projects in AAS and you most likely won’t be doing what you like. Also deloittes’ name is unheard of mostly in the space and they lay-off a lot. Would probably pick FP&A

Which offer should I accept? Currently staff 2 at big 4 in Tax with CPA license. I want to leave tax ASAP. Both are public companies +1B in revenue and same salary. Offer 1 - staff revenue accountant so reading contracts, speaking with the sales team and legal team, a lot of work at the end of the months to close books and reconcile transactions to make sure we are ASC 606 compliant. This track usually leads to director of revenue. Offer 2 - internal audit staff so SOX and compliance projects.

Has anyone made the transition from non-profit and small firm practice to federal government, big law, in-house? Working on some law firm applications tonight and it sucks that I know that I am so capable and have a strong work ethic but firms can’t see beyond grades or the fact that I didn’t go to a t14 law school or prestigious undergrad. I’ve worked twice as hard and feel like I’ve barely even gotten half as much. It’s discouraging sometimes especially because I worked so hard with pretty much no guidance (first gen, poc, low-income) to get into college and do well and then get into a t30 law school

The potential comp is the low 200k with a 10% bonus (still higher than what I am making). I feel this is pretty low for VC standards but maybe my standards are also too high. I have generally seen 25% bonus with carry.
