What’s going on FB friends,

I am contemplating a move to industry working at a VC, Tax Director role east coast. Looks like it will be primarily overseeing compliance with some aspect of advising on structures etc. There is another tax reporting head above me.

The potential comp is the low 200k with a 10% bonus (still higher than what I am making). I feel this is pretty low for VC standards but maybe my standards are also too high. I have generally seen 25% bonus with carry.

Any thoughts?

Agreed. Bonus is low and no carry takes the point out of working for a VC, PE, HF. It may be moot if you don’t expect to stay that along, though.

Yah that’s what I figured. The recruiter pitching me was telling me it was in line and I’m like let’s agree to disagree. Yah tenure is certainly a factor, I tend to be a creature of habit and generally try to stick it out (although switching jobs seems to be the trend to get the bigger paycheck). I’m hoping to try and get to a number I’m comfortable with for at least 4-5 years.

Salesforce will be 40-50 hours a week remote until 2022 and then will have a hybrid working model, most likely going in office 2-3 times a week vs Morgan Stanley will be on average 60 hours a week in office full time. Is it worth the 30K extra in compensation to commute to office daily + 10-20 more hours per week? In terms of pay progression, I think Morgan Stanley will definitely be a lot fast

Hi everyone. Is it typical for the attorney to take credit for the work a paralegal does? An example: I gave some ideas about deposition questions and some observations I made (I was asked about giving suggestions) regarding a witness and the attorney mentioned that he’s the one that had these great questions/observations. Zero credit or thank you for the work I did.
