Currently working as a Senior Auditor at EY, Toronto, focusing on public listed multinational companies . My ultimate goal is to become a lawyer and i am wondering if its a good idea to try for a Senior Associate role in Mergers and Acquisition transaction services line to get an idea and to help my personal statement for my law school application to show i am already equipped with experience from accounting perspective in mergers and acquisitions which lawyers deal with a lot. Help please

I would just go to law school. There are a lot of people who go to law school straight out of undergrad, so switching to transaction services isn’t going to make much of a difference and will just be a waste of your time in getting to your ultimate goal.

Yesterday I had the last round of interviews with a robotics start up for a QA Manager job. At the end of the on-site, the hiring manager told me I was one of the two top candidates and that the other individual had a slight experience advantage. He then proceeded to ask of I would be open for a QA Eng job in the event I dont get the Mgr job. I told him that I am flexible, but that we should take it one step a time before jumping to conclusions. Should I be worried?

Always been a fan of FIRE and reading about it has definitely helped my finances but I can’t help but wonder if the movement is more about lifestyle change than early retirement.

After you achieve FI,you basically have to maintain the lifestyle that got you there.

What if you want to go on a lavish vacation or buy that flatscreen TV? Are you supposed to do away with material goods entirely? I suppose you could keep working for discretionary $ and live off interest but then you’re not retired.

Having a hard time with deciding to partake in social distance hangouts with friends. On the one hand we want to do our part in preventing the spread but at the same time weighing risks. I started a new job 3 weeks ago. The company is moving to a new office. I’ve been going into the office once a week. It’s a smaller company (~40 ppl), but with vaccinations and the CFO trying to plan out the offices/cubes in the new space, he asked my preference on WFH vs. in-office, number of days of each, etc going forward. I feel more productive at home and the office is 30 miles from my apartment (renting), but I don’t want WFH to stunt progression, salary, socialization, etc. Thoughts?
