I recently started GC with EY law. I haven’t seen any case process since late august and there are a few items past due. The lawyers are not responding to my emails, does anyone know how to get a better sense of case progress and possibly to get the lawyers to speed up the process? Thanks! EY

Comp for 1st years is 160k. The reason being, your soul relinquishes the moment the ink is dry on your contract.
It's actually set that high to try and compete with NY firms. Obviously, misguided and not a competition.
Firm also rejigged compensation to make it seem higher. Took the guaranteed/fixed part of bonus and added it to the base to seem higher. With only a 7.5% bonus, total comp can actually end up higher at other firms.
OP--annualized hours aren't so bad, but there can be large swings depending on deals. Teams are lean, so can't hide on deals like you can some other firms.
Most folks max out at around 1900.
They don’t call it Slavies for nothing.
Tbh, this is such marketing genius. Corp associates at comparable shops aren’t working any less or producing work that’s lower quality yet everyone remembers Slavies.
