My husband didn’t take his leave at the same time, we stacked ours to extend it. He did use a week of PTO when baby was born.
STD for mental health and post partum, doctor will write you out for additional time if you tell them youre feeling anxious about leaving your baby. Good luck!

My company paid leave uses the state paid leave to subsidize the company paid time (meaning they don’t get stacked, they happen at the same time). But i think what the commenter above mentioned about extending short term disability may be possible with a note from the doctor.
State dependent but have had friends able to stack state fmla with company parental leave. Usually fmla is designed to be a back stop where someone doesn’t have parental leave but sometimes the language is ambiguous especially in the early years after a state introduces fmla.
