I was told to expect a written offer from one of the Big4 soon, however the HR team has stated that they are experiencing a back-log and will get back to me as soon as they hear back. I have been following up for the past 3-4 weeks and can’t help but feel nervous that it won’t fall through. Has anyone been in this situation with the Big4? Can they ghost you if they have already given you an offer (via phone) and you have settled compensation and start date with them verbally?

I am a Senior Manager of Software Engineering and lead architect at a small company (was a startup with < 10 employees when I joined, now has > 50).
