Move, do what’s best for you, and honestly PwC has a generally better culture than Deloitte
P is way better than D. I don’t mean that from the team around me. I mean that from a tech, processes, benefits, comp, admin support groups, etc. it’s totally lacking here. It’s shocking.
Do you have a good mentor at Deloitte? Are you happy with the projects you’re getting staffed on? Are you learning a lot and gaining valuable experience? There are way more important things to consider at this point in your career

Slow down. Get that promotion to SA next year in writing from PwC. Their recruiters are notorious for promising fast promotions, but they have no say in the promotion process. If they won’t put it in writing, proceed as though that is not a given.
Rising Star
Even if you have that Sr. Assoc. in writing, it will be conditional on performance and except you have a crystal ball, you cannot tell what your performance outcome will be.
Rising Star
Your network is everything no matter where you work. If Deloitte matched an offer, that means you are highly regarded and valuable to the firm, they don’t just do that for anyone. I do not trust PWC recruiters’ empty promises of promotions, they have zero say in that. Remember PwC sat on your offer for months, while people were getting offers from them left and right.
When you get to higher levels like M and above, D typically pays significantly higher than other firms.
What’s the pwc reorg that happened?
Some bridges are okay to be burnt. What makes you so sure you’re getting the promotion in a year though? Highly doubt they’re writing that on the offer letter.
Think about long term career and where you want to be. PwC is the way to go.
Compensation is great, and definitely take advantage of the spot you’re in to negotiate a reasonable comp. At the end of the day though, if you’re doing the right career moves, money will come.
They teach in war college that sometime you have to tactfully burn the bridge so that it can’t be use by invading forces. In any case the bridge you are worried about is now a day non existent. Do what is best for you in short and medium term.
How is PwC paying you much more? They operate on cohort model for what it’s worth. My current firm paid me 27k more (salary) than what PwC was going to be for the same level.
I’d think wisely about moving to PwC if money is your motivation. They don’t pay that well because of their cohort restrictions
Each cohort also has multiple salary bands
Come to BCG
I’m doing that now for a T2 firm for M&A wouldn’t say no to it for more pay haha
How much better is the PwC offer? And is the promo to SA in writing in the offer letter, or is it verbal only?
Same happened to me. Accepted another offer and then PwC reached out with an offer that had better title and comp. I have to do what’s best for me.
Would someone explain what is the PWC cohort model?
Don’t even need to try negoating base.. only way to get more is to be placed in a higher cohort.. have at it with negotiating signing bonus though
Does PwC still do milestone awards? I would factor that in too and stick it out till manager if possible ($30k award). SCs get a “find yourself” retreat which is actually really nice.
How did you go about offer matching?
I got another offer and talked to project leadership, had to send them the offer letter
Why would it burn bridges? Its better to not have such mentors who can’t understand that you are looking for your career. Go for PwC, D is no way better and your better role & money should be the justification for the same.
I’m kinda confused about this whole thing. Pwc said they are promoting you next year? That’s not a guarantee. And if you’re coming in as an associate at PwC, you are coming in at less than 95k. I feel like you are very early in your career and need to figure out what you want over the next 5 years.
I held out an extra year at PwC while I was an associate, turning down an offer of 115k total comp somewhere else and gained another year of experience and went to kpmg for 150k total comp recently
OP if you’re interested in salary progression at PwC, lmk I can tell you
