AWS (and Amazon more broadly) has a reputation for having a pretty tough culture. People either love it or hate it, but def long hours expected. Talk to some folks that work there now to get a feel of whether or not it’ll be a good fit for you personally
Amazon yes, but the AWS guys i work with have incredibly Cush jobs relative to Consulting life. Great pay, stock vesting and highly predictable hours while they laugh at us Consulting working around the clock for similar pay
Apologies for weak initial info. Could be L6 or L7 band, in product mgmt, am M at S&O - having a great year. Also would make no difference if I was M or SM for this role at that band. Have spoken to people in there, I like them and the work. Am working like a dog and traveling non stop so not like that scares me anyway.
Yay - definitely
No data provided, except for ‘reasonably’, unless you’re looking for encouragement.
- What’s level alignment from D to A, first cut?
- Second cut, comp. comparison
A is known to deflate levels, your “reasonably” already includes mental adjustment and acceptance?
Def go, if L7
OP, any idea about the compensation band at AWS for L7?
All Amazon employees get paid a max of $160k per year, including Bezos (on a monthly schedule). What matters is your total comp as they make up the diff with equity on an exponential vesting schedule. You’ll need to be there 4-5 years to really see the gain so make sure you’ve got a long term outlook
Depends on what role in my opinion.
Software Engineer? Yes
Finance or Operations? Meh
What is reasonably senior? Senior Manager?
Need to get the creds before applying. Go for AWS Solution Architect cert. they have an associate and professional level. Just go for associate
Vest schedule is important, my offer out of bschool had 5% vest the first year. I'm considering doing it after I get sick or traveling
