Salaries are going down but rent isnt 🫠
That is not “generous” by any stretch, even in this market.
I got 70k as a junior out of ad school, it probably has gone down because of how awful the market is and they know they can probably get someone to take 70 even though they’re worth closer to 100 in better times.
There's definitely been downward pressure on wages. Hold the line as best you can.
Yes it certainly feels that way.
I was laid off at the start of Covid, and began freelancing for a a year and some change before getting back to FT. I watched salaries bump up by maybe 25% or so as there was a lull of workers while I was looking for a job. It seems as though the market has shifted and salaries have fallen back to pre-COVID rates. Maybe a little less due to a buyers market. Just my observation.
Yes. The industry is going away.
I would say so. I haven’t gotten a raise in 3 years and they won’t promote me despite great reviews for 5 years.
Yes. Some years ago senior level production jobs were at $150k give or take. Now I’m seeing the same roles at $110, $125 barely. And if I want to have a laugh, the same job in any online publication, (trying to survive by making videos because no one reads), is at 90, 100k. In a perfect world no one should be a senior producer or operations lead for 95k!
Not to beat a dead horse but the perfect world is in the rear view mirror.
My starting rate was 90$k for my 1-2 years… that was back in 2009.
I started at $35k in 2008. $70k would’ve been amazing. It’s taken me almost 17 years to get up to $200k.
Freelance and full time rates have gone down to what they were 10 years ago
Yes. I've seen them go down. They actually seem to be exactly the same as they were in the mid-2000s.
