If you get fired, you’ll get unemployment
Sorry no they won't. NY is at will, and they will say they violated a policy as the termination reason. This is no different than people being let go for refusing to follow RTO mandates, which is happening all over. Those people cant get unemployment or severance either. If it's not a true layoff, theres no severance or unemployment.
Tell your director to get better at sticking to timelines and managing clients.
would love to lol, watching them take on project after project knowing they themselves will do little work on it has definitely been frustrating.
Stop your moaning and get back to work
If you get fired in an at-will state, without good evidence that it was discriminatory, no unemployment for you.
If they put it in writing and you're exempt from overtime pay, agree with CD1. But honestly, I'm kinda skeptical of the notion that anything actionable will come of such a complaint, unless you've got enough colleagues to back you up.
If you refuse to work the additional hours then isn’t it your fault? Not complying with a company‘s work policy doesn’t look good. I’m also rooting for you! :)
Don’t refuse but do a mediocre job and get fired. Get the unemployment. Also i’ve never heard of “at will”, what does that mean?
As I understand it, a company can fire you at any time for any reason. If there's a lay-off, then you can collect unemployment. There has to be more to it than that, right?
