Hello people, how common is a Amazon to PWC move ?
I’m interviewing for a Senior Associate role and TC seems to be more competitive than role in L5.
TC $114k- Base AMZ- $73k +$38kstocks ( vesting 17k$ due next year)
TC $135k Base PWC -$81$ + Bonuses ( 50k$)
Looking for managerial skills which the PWC role avails, and L6 promo doesn’t seem to be happening soon in current role. I’m also mentally stretched. I hear WLB in PWC is just as busy but can anyone confirm if this move makes any sense. Google Amazon

They will be replaced with cheaper younger people. And the work will reflect this.

They don’t care. For every person quitting, there are 30+ people applying who would jump to take the role right now.

Burn and turn.

Hahaha I have a bit of bad news: can confirm it’s not any better outside of agencies.

The sad truth is most agencies secretly want “voluntary leavers”, they are hoping and counting on it actually. Lots of cheaper talent in the queue.

I don’t think it matters.
And there’s plenty of talented people unemployed. Plenty of junior talent. Certainly would lose experience.
I’m not condoning it, just saying that’s the reality I am seeing.
The plan seems to be entirely focusing on 1/1/21
Where I’m at have worked us hard all year and we’ve just broken even, which is remarkable. For the next 3 months they’ve lined up multiple pitches and loads of client projects to try and turn a profit; which would make 2021 MUCH MUCH easier.
Our agency has had next to nobody laid off this year. It’s been a slog with a hiring and freelancer freeze in place but I feel fortunate to have a job.
This is such a different situation to everything else we’ve experienced for. There is a great human cost in every regard.
The issue is that agencies peddle the mental wellness and balance nonsense but if you raise your hand you will most certainly put a target on your back.

Yup.
Genuinely curious, not supposed to be snarky, but what type of plan would expect an agency lead to put in place to help with burnout? I ask because essentially the root is that there aren’t enough people but there’s recruitment freezes, right? But your question specifies burnout, so not working as many hours, pressure from managers, clients etc? Our leadership is saying don’t work extra hours, we’ve been given odd extra days off where the agency has closed, we’ve got various “no meeting” rules in place, etc. What more can they do? But ultimately they shouldn’t be asking anyone to work over time. I guess the problem is if they aren’t even saying that where you work?!
Most agencies have done none of what youre talking about haha. That sounds great
It’s called campus recruiting duh!
Everyone that works at our agency was burnt out when they started. Most of them had vowed to never return to advertising. Including me. We had to work really hard to help our people out of it. I think most of us are there.
It’s really tough right now since people are working from home. But it’s possible to produce great work and not burn your creatives out. It’s a mixture of keeping them happy, healthy, and inspired. I don’t think agencies do any of those three well because most agency heads don’t even believe in mental health.
I’m lucky that some of my favorite brains in the world decide to spend their days with me. Its my job to keep them fresh.
