Do any of you at EY ever have issues actually taking your vacation? Given we work with people across regions on multiple projects at once, who do you ask for approval for longer vacations? I feel like I usually just add it in ARMS and tell people I won’t be there X days. Rarely do I ever get pushback (but rarely do I ever take all my vacation days)

I suppose previously it was understood that you were taking your accrued vacation which belonged to you. And that’s why it was easier to take time off. But with the new policy, that PTO (since it will no longer be accrued) doesn’t necessarily belong to you. Which will make it harder to take time off.

In business consulting you have to request permission if it’s over a week, and it’s up to the practice lead to approve. I’ve always been super protective of my vacation time, but they can be dicks about it. A few years I had a family member who was quite ill and I requested time off to get back west to see them. Engagement leadership asked if I could delay it a few days, which I reluctantly agreed to, but I wish I never had. They passed away before I could make it home, and never got the chance to say goodbye.

That is awful I’m so sorry

I personally struggle with having to alert so many teams/people about PTO and not having one centralized place they (and I) can rely on for notice. Inevitably a project from months ago resurfaces and the management freaks out about the vacation I “didn’t tell them about”

We want to find a career that allows her to work remote or that at least gives her a better work life balance so that she can see her kids grow up. Should she get certifications to give her a shot at adtech?Too late?

For the CFE, did you do anything in addition to the ACFE prep course? The course is just practice questions, so I’m wondering where I can actually learn the information first before that.

I was wondering if the review course “CPE Self Study Course” for the CFF was enough preparation to study and pass the CFF exam. The CFE review course was enough and like if you get a question wrong it explains it well so that when it comes up in a different way in the real exam you can still get it. But when I saw the outline for the CFF material and there seems to be a lot of topics so I was wondering if the review course was sufficient considering this exam is also multiple choice. Thanks!

Decided that I’m leaving audit today. Trying to understand the full range of opportunities in forensics. Will have my CPA and CFE.
