Do any of you have energy for outside of work activities? I am trying to engage in a hobby once a week or so but sometimes I am so tired that I just want to rest instead. Any easy to do hobbies that people would recommend?

Read. It requires zero energy and is so good for you. I also like working out, baking, and am trying to figure out knitting. That's been a disaster so far though 😂

I agree with another commenter that being outside doing something as a hobby is good in more than one way. I have started raising tomato plants in 5-gallon buckets; they are very easy to take care of, require almost no weed control, and anyone can do it.

I do some gardening when the weather is nice and I find it gratifying. What's nice about it is that you can do as much as you want. If you want to grow a few plants in containers on a balcony, that's fine. Or if you've got a plot of land and want to have a full vegetable garden you can do that. It's possible to match the extent of your gardening with your energy level.

I enjoy playing video games, it really helps me unwind. I've been playing Pokemon fire red on switch since it came out haha

big video game player find it very relaxing or engagning depending on the game im playing

Simple activities like walking, light exercise, reading, or creative hobbies can help decompress without requiring a lot of energy.

I like to go on long walks and listen to audiobooks or podcasts. I don’t know if you can call it a hobby but it’s enjoyable to me and helps me unwind.

Diamond dot painting is very relaxing yet needs your focus and attention so you can’t get distracted with work thoughts. Plus you end up with pretty things that you can gift to others

I hear you. I enjoy reading and hand quilting. These can be done anywhere, including from in bed when I don’t have the energy to be anywhere else.

I've been trying too, but so far it's been just yard work. Something that pushed me to start trying harder was a brain hack video (chilldude on YouTube) that talked about spending 10 minutes in direct sun within the first hour of waking up. It's helped me wake up faster and I do feel like I've got the energy to do more than flop on the couch and turn on the Xbox.

I am trying to walk every day at least 30 minutes, that make me feel good!

Watch a program on UTube. A craft a week. See what meets your needs. Interesting and not to demanding.

Right now my “hobby “ is looking for a job before the end of this month. 😏😬 If you gotta be inside at times, do you like baking? I recently picked that up. Last year, I got myself into making bracelets with paracords if your into that, they have videos on YouTube. The only other thing I love to do when I can do it since u like being outside, I like to go for a bike ride in my neighborhood.

I work 6 days a week so I have to find time to do something for myself every once in a while. I agree with the top comment. I garden on my day off and try and enjoy the little bit of energy I do have

After walking the dogs outside, I might come inside and color a monochrome picture. It is surprisingly soothing. One color for the whole picture. It's therapeutic

easy hobbies like reading, drawing, and video games, I keep my hobbies a wide variety of things because I get tired of different types. I also recommend a simple walk or enjoying doing nothing and sitting outside if the weather is good

knitting, bible study, couch invitationals with 10-12 pillows as guests! Favorite tea or beverage door service grocery and meals no contact! fantasy meeting my future husband while walking my dog madly in love we go snuggle on the couch with pillows.

Does anyone else have to wait until they have all assignments turned in for the day to start grading? I have Geom classes in the a.m. and p.m. and my OCD doesn’t let me grade as they are turned in.

I found using GoFormative’s free version to be very helpful in teaching new topics to my students. I embed videos I make demonstrating how to complete a question, next I ask them to complete an example showing work, and then the next question they type their answer so it automatically alerts them to see if they answered correctly. It can be used live in a meet and on an independent virtual day. In my google meets, I’m able to give feedback on any question they have trouble with in real time.

What book have you read that was helpful for your career and/or that you would recommend? Could be a technical book, management, etc. For me, it’s a book I read a few years ago: The Phoenix Project. I never thought I would read and like a novel about DevOps but I recommend it to all my managers.

So I had been working as medical interpreter up to the early part of this year. Today, during an interview, the Director with whom I was interviewing genuinely urged me to consider pursuing a career as a PA or even attempt to go to medical school. I had considered it in passing before but today was about the third or fourth time that someone had earnestly nudged me in that direction. Has anyone here made such a career pivot before? I love working in healthcare, there’s nothing like it.
