I bought a Herman Miller like 7 years ago and it’s in nearly perfect shape after almost daily use

D3 - are you routinely not wearing clothes to absorb the ass sweat? That’s so disturbing…
Husband has herman miller. I bought an Amazon knock off. They’re SO similar, but strangely mine stays clean whereas his attracts dust on a surface just below the seat. Both are equally sturdy and comfortable - he’s pretty jealous of the great deal I got ha
Thanks

I've been using the same Herman Miller chair for last 12 years, not a single issue with the chair. I'm sure it can last for many more years to come. But it has dust underneath which I need to clean up couple times / year.
@EY1 can you post the name of the chair you got on Amazon?

I have a secretlab and clock 13 hours straight easy peasy
I’ve had a Herman Miller chair for years and it’s like new. I’ve had some $100-200 chairs that were damaged by this point. The HM chairs are made better and probably slightly more comfortable. I don’t see this breaking anytime soon. You have to judge if that is worth the price.
I recommend it. I got a similar cheap-ish one at the beginning of lockdowns and it eventually wore me down. The big boys are big boys for a reason: good design.
If you’re considering Herman Miller, go for Secret Lab. Slightly cheaper and very aesthetic. Technically a gaming chair but a great ergonomic chair and will blend in any office if you get the black on black

It really depends on the chair. If you're looking at a Sayl or Aeron you could just get a cheaper version and have a similar experience for less.
If ergonomics is top priority then get the Embody. I've never found a knock off that comes close.

If you want impacts, I’d suggest move around more often over picking a chair. That being said, I have Aaron chair and it seems fine
When you consider how long you’ll be sitting in it - a really nice chair is a great investment

If you are shorter than average, skip the Herman Miller or any other “ergonomic” chair that doesn’t specifically mention that it’s for short people. I have the HM at work and I can’t get it adjusted correctly for my short legs/arms, long-torso-but-only-5-feet-tall body. The seat is too deep and the lumbar support hits in the wrong place. It’s awful.

I recommend not trying to buy a chair online and taking the time to go to stores and find one that fits you. The one I ultimately chose was actually sold as a “dining chair” at World Market.
