I had an online assessment round at Intuit and then a technical round. Both went good. But its been 15 days I am yet to hear back from them. Does intuit send closure/rejection email or is it just implicit? also what is the cooling period for intuit ? and what should be the expected ctc if things go right? Yes. Having been on the other side of the table, i can say there’s no upside to it, but there will be a negative perception if you don’t send one.
Is it that hard to send out a thank you?
I don’t. If I do it’s a very short message but even then I think it’s a waste of time and comes off needy. If I were interviewing for an executive level position, yeah I’d send a thank you.
At associate level, if someone is that offended I didn’t tell them thank you, I don’t want to work there anyway
^ that’s the opposite of there being no upside...
B.s. ALWAYS send. Very short, non needy notes. It checks the box, shows you care, and i have heard it raised numerous times at roundtables. Stay humble for every position... even if you dont want it and turn down an offer.
Yes - just make sure not to say y’all in the email
Never - make them want you
Absolutely! Agree with Analyst 1- May not be an upside but definitely a negative if you don’t
Career counselors will tell you to always send a thank you note. In my experience it is of no value because the interviewers have made up their minds about you by the time you leave the building. So it won’t help, but it won’t hurt either.
I used to send and stopped now. Ironically, every role I send a thank you note for didn’t come back to me. HR is reaching out to me for the roles i never send a thank you note. I agree, being on the other side, i felt like the candidate was needy when i received a thank you note from them. I preferred candidates that didn’t send one. I would only give a credit if the thank you note is unique, short, and real - doesn’t say the same shit as always. Don’t waste my time.
It's worth sending. It gives some more feedback that we (I) read the interview right. If there is a question you feel you flubbed, you can follow up, after all in most meetings you can say I don't know but I'll get back to you with those facts.
Send it. The note is almost a prepackaged response but worth sending.
^ to me this comes off as very needy. If you screw up a question, don’t email me a response later. If it wasn’t a big deal to me then, you’ve just made it a big deal in my mind. Also suggests you might struggle with making mistakes and moving on quickly. As someone else said, I made up my mind before you left.
Analyst 2... that is nice if the company has 2 weeks to decide, but roundtables happen quicker... within 2 days. Old school is nice but not efficient with todays recruiting processes.... who even told you that?
RA1 - it’s just a check the box thing. Not a factor in you getting the job hence no upside. But if you don’t say thanks you come off as rude and entitled
Investment Banking Analysis 1, maybe for a BAC or 5/3 role in NC that helps.
Handwritten note is better
Yep, not sure a handwritten note would even get to me. You get my email address as part of the interview confirmation. Use it.
No, unless I feel strongly for it, which hasn’t played out yet
