I can't bring my whole authentic self to work because that’s not what my job asks of me. I bring a comfortable amount of what I have to do to get the job done, but I also don't actively try to conceal my personality.
Truth
What do you mean by bring your whole self? I work in a bank and bet nobody is bringing their whole selves.
Never be your entire self, you’ll be judged. Save that for after 5pm
Work is not a place for "bringing your whole self"
You're there to play a role which you get paid for - not be yourself.
Don't fall for the GenZ wypipo propaganda.
I don't need nor want to bring my whole self to work. Work don't need to know everything about me.
Leave the parts that don't help you keep your paycheck at home.
What are examples of bringing your whole self to work? I always see this discourse but the meaning and conversation behind it seems so vague that I wonder if it really has any weight.
None of this seems like bringing your whole self to work though if you’re holding back? This is why I feel like this is a thing that shouldn’t even be a topic because in a professional setting it doesn’t belong.
As someone who has been in corporate America for 20 years - DO NOT BRING YOUR WHOLE SELF TO WORK.
Don’t fall for the BS cliche sayings, it is not true. If you do, you will find yourself being pushed out the door.
And also, everyone who is friendly ain’t your friend. Be weary of who you trust because there are bunch of wolves who will smile in your face and then talk shit about you if it can help them move up
