Yes. If I'm out of work for an extended period of time, I'm accepting whatever offer I can get. If it's lower than what I was previously earning, I'm continuing to apply with the plan of leaving if and when I get a better offer.

It is a negotiation between you and your new employer.

Yes

It should not change, but you will be more flexible with taking something at the lower end

depends on indivdual, thats literally all that matters. If you focus on what others do, instead of yourself; youll get no where.

Yes. If I'm already employed, I look at a situation for what it will take me to jump ship. If I'm already out of work, I'd take on what I need to survive.

Partners - Do you ever take vacations?

I have been at my current firm for about 1.5 years, and in that entire time the partner in my group hasn't been out of the office a single time. Is that normal? I can't tell if it's standard for big law partners to not take time off, if the dynamics for my group may be different (only 1 partner in the entire group), or it the partner I work with is just a masochist.

Currently an associate at a V30 and negotiating a partnership position at another V30. What is the correct way to maximize the pay in the negotiation as a lateral partner? I’m afraid of settling at a lower price than what they can do at the top end of the range! Do I anchor by asking for an outrageous figure or let them offer a salary figure first?

Why is education deemed more valuable on a pay scale than experience? Employers will pay someone with a degree and no experience a greater salary, than someone who has exhibited the experience. Understanding that the degreed person committed to school and finished, yet that doesn't diminish what the not degreed has committed to and accomplished in their careers. This has to stop!

Leaving my current job for a career pivot. Current job has been challenging to say the least and senior management never hears what others have to say. Employment is an at will state.
Senior leadership is so unforgiving that I fear by giving notice, I’ll be asked to leave and lose out on two weeks pay.
Thoughts and feedback on not giving notice or reducing the typical two weeks?
Thank you!
