Your wife probably has more runway / success potential than being an Accenture MD. Honestly it’s an ego hit for men, but sounds like you have a wife that could be a sole breadwinner and you have an opportunity to either throttle back your career in the short term or live the dream and be closer to your kids. Not all couples have that option, and not many men get that opportunity…

It’s only an ego hit if you are thinking “me” instead of “we”. Helping her start her practice is a massive benefit for the latter and will ultimately free you up to take bigger risks/challenged to advance your career.
I may sound biased but I think one career has to take a back seat when the other is on full throttle. You both can take turns but kids need attention and better if atleast one parent can give that attention.
Thank you for your thoughts, I agree
Sounds like you might need to take your foot off the gas for a bit. Definitely support your wife on this.

Excellent article, thank you!
Sounds like a win to me. More money and more time with the kids
Or just outsource the parenting? Not judgmentally, plenty of career couples we know have full time, live-in nannies.

Give her the space to start her practice and take a step back for a bit. If you don’t support her in this, it could have far reaching implications.
