A few months ago, I started meeting with a colleague every Friday afternoon for a 30-minute “coffee chat.” It’s been a game-changer—we brainstorm strategies for tricky clients, share what’s worked for upselling, and sometimes just vent about the chaos of juggling 10+ accounts each. It’s helped me feel less isolated in the role and even improved how I handle certain clients. Is this kind of collaboration common at other companies? If you don’t have something like this, do you think it would help? I’d love to hear how others connect with their peers!

I work for a small agency and manage our internal marketing acct. We had very few processes in place when I started. I’ve since created, implemented, and trained our dept. on project mgmt for clients and am trying to convince the owner to apply those principles to our internal jobs. They are resistant because they just want the work to be done and don’t “want to keep spending money on internal jobs”. I’m confused because we’re doing the work either way and “spending” in labor/resources.

I want to quit without a job lined up. My agency is a dumpster fire of incompetent project managers, revolving door of creatives and culture of not holding people accountable amidst a micromanaging gossipy leadership. I just want out. Tell me it is ok and will be alright.

How long do you spend on monthly reporting for your clients?
My 3-person team spends about 15+ hours a month each writing monthly reports for our clients (99 small retainer clients). We’ve received feedback that they’re too complicated and the clients just want to know - are we on the right track, what action items are there, and what any next steps are in their strategy.
