I still struggle with this but mine isn’t being short at work, it’s being short when I get home.
That's when you start managing and give direction rather than doing the actual work
I'm not a Manager, yet, but a Life Long Learner.
Stressed out, been there.
Cure, don't micro-manage workers or peers.
Give honest time estimates,
If you get people who are " Hovering", offer to share your work.
Keep an ugly schedule at your desk WIP, work in progress,
Stickies and magnets with who, why, why, update event, don't APOLOGIZE.
I have been there. I noticed a few things about myself that may help you.
1) Mid to late morning was particularly bad. That is when I realized I can't skip breakfast or I get grumpy by 10AM. I keep a baggie of almonds at my desk in case it's been too long since I ate.
2) I block out time to accomplish certain priorities, including routine priorities. I set it like a mtg so people assume I am in a mtg and don't call during those times.
3) If someone calls with a complex question I tell them I will call them back in 5 - 10 minutes. I use the washroom, grab a tea, open the applicable files and close some windows on my computer. Then I can be attentive and really help them when I call them back.
Hopefully some of these tips will help.
I am at that point right now
