It is a fairly common practice in organizations with traditional career management structures for people to "be promoted" into leadership roles as the "end steps of the corporate ladder" that was climbed doing technical work. How do you transition from big 4 consulting to big law? My clients are all funds, and I do international tax consulting. I have used my connections to refer me into probably 10 big law firms and it’s not working. One most recently came back and said they aren’t interested bc I have no law firm experience. How am I supposed to get it though? I can’t go to lower ranked firms bc my clients are all “big.” … any suggestions appreciated!

I went from agency to in house PR 1.5 years ago (I’m at a prof services firm in nyc). There are no boundaries for communication; everyone is expected to answer emails immediately at all hours and senior people respond in minutes between about 7am-11pm, at minimum. Is this normal in the corporate, non agency world? Not sure if this is just due to the pandemic and WFH, but I was under the impression that in house life would be more chill.
