Free time? LOL
I don't have a second job in my "free time" because (1) I would have to report it to my firm per firm policy, (2) I don't have "free time" since I'm on call 24/7 and (3) because of the uncertainty of my schedule day-to-day and week-to-week, I couldn't give another job blocks of uninterrupted time so they could schedule me for shifts.
Sounds depressing
I do. I work in-house, and some evenings and weekends, I work remotely for a friend's law firm. My primary employer knows and it cleared conflicts.
Yes, I have my own practice and I work part-time for another firm. These days, unfortunately for some of us, it is a necessity.
Federal criminal defense! I’m getting there. I’m already in the federal courts with my civil cases. And I have a civil client facing federal criminal charges.
I thought about doing this at my last firm but I got a new job that has unlimited incentive comp. So after I bill 125 a month, I get extra per hour which is more than I would make a part-time job. And that’s paid out monthly.
Good for me. Base comp is 120k. Then $119-$190 an hour after that based on a tiered system.
I moonlight as a professional musician and play weddings, and public events and I have a part time private practice and do crisis/trauma work
Early in my career I used to bartend one or two nights a week at an improv theatre. It was a return to some of how I made money pre-law school, so it was easy in that way. But I really did it because I realized about 3 years out of law school in a city I moved to for school that I was only friends with lawyers and that felt cussing unacceptable. I also loved that most problems could be fixed with a free shot/less than $10. And, it was a great way to feel like I was being social without spending any money. As I progressed in my career, I didn't have time for it anymore but it was a wonderful side gig for a few years.
I write romance novels. The publisher knows that if my day job gets busy I might have a problem and she gives me long ones. The partners know that I do this and are OK with it as long as my day job work isn't impacted.

I don't anymore, but in the past, i used to bartend occasionally. Not so much for the money or but it was fun for me, money was a bonus
I have a side biz selling crystals and all that woo woo stuff.
I have a few friends that teach fitness classes. They do it because they enjoy it and they get to take classes there for free!
I’m a yoga instructor on the weekends!
Grader for practice bar exam essays
I work as an adjunct instructor at a private university. I teach ungrads and paralegal students. It's an easy way to make extra money 🤑 💰🤑 in this economy.
How did you go about getting the job?
I serve civil summons and do diminished value claims for auto accidents along with door dashing. The work tends to rotate, door dashing helps because I have access to funds as soon as I'm done dashing.
Dang, I assume you're not door dashing for fun
I sell comics on eBay. I do it because I love it not for the money. Comics calm me down.
Yes I am interested
I sell my pottery at a trendy artisan shop. It also requires shop hours, so that eats up my weekends.
I trade Bitcoin and other alt coins. Its a good way to leverage over inflation and learn more about the fin-tech industry. Plus my job gives me the capital I need. Law is competitive, getting a side-gig is time consuming as well,
I'm impressed seeing people bartending on weekends, while I'm trying to rebuild my mental health that same weekend.
