I was laid off during Deloitte‘s mass layoff in July of last year. I have worked as an independent contractor since and projects haven’t been consistent at the client I’m working for. I’m looking to get back into a big firm and was seeing if anyone would be able to refer me or help get my foot in the door. I was a business analyst for 1.5 years at Deloitte and have several years of additional experience which I’d be more than happy to share.

Does anyone know if the same 401k rules apply at EY as Accenture so they will cap the contributions coming for your check say if you hit the yearly limits in August? So if you hit the 22,500 in 23 there is no way to go over for tax issues. Thinking to frontload next year contributions if market is down. EY

I have a six sigma yellow belt because It was apart of my grand school curriculum. I have not used it at work, but having general awareness and knowledge of the discipline has helped me understand various aspects of my client’s operations. It is another perspective to view and solve problems through. I love the two main tenets. They are respect for people (solving problems with those who are on the front lines) and continuous improvement!
I’m a certified black belt. When six sigma was at the height of its popularity (early 2000s) I defiantly saw a recruiting boost from my certification. But those days are long gone. These days I feel like it still frames my thinking to a certain respect, and particularly how I approach data and problem solving.

*A* six sigma? You mean a six sigma belt?
I got a green belt about a decade ago in preparation for an upcoming quality improvement initiative at a client that ultimately got canned, and I've done nothing with it since.
I have a green belt certification and I led several six sigma projects (non quality ones) at my former employer. It helps if you're looking for continuous improvement type roles. It also helped me land my current role at D. The problem solving methodology and tools were the biggest learnings for me.
It has been a good discussion topic for me in interviews. However, it also matters where you get it from. Unfortunately, there are many organizations (including universities) granting six sigma certificates (even yellow and white belt) that only require completion of a few tests online. Those are worthless. Practical experience takes it to a whole another level.
If you want to pursue, do it to learn a great problem solving approach that you can apply almost anywhere.

I have a black belt and passed the Master Black Belt test.
In ops it is useful at companies running programs that utilize “polka yolk,” “5S” or other elements but ultimately its applied statistics and applied common sense.
It’s more helpful than the PMP cert my company had us get in the mid 2000’s.
