Some of us have regrets about our parents doing that. :)

This is another thing kids sometimes regret their parents doing! :)

What do you mean by this? Starting to aggressively save too early so you can become financially independent or retiring too early? And if it’s the latter, is the question if people felt underprepared financially for retirement or more about personal fulfillment?

like

Latter and underprepared

If you have the lifestyle you want post FIRE, then no regrets.

If you feel like you can’t live your best life then I can’t see how FIRE is worth it

We’re saving quite a bit now to retire early but we are assuming our lifestyle will be inflated and are planning for it. With extra time, it’ll be hard not to spend more money. If we retire in our 40s, then I’ll be happy.

Only For MacBook Users -
I slightly dropped my MacBook and apparently (slightly) damaged the keyboard and trackpad as per service Center. I don’t see any visible damage to the system but that’s what they say and are charging me about 28k for this even though my system is in warranty period (will complete a year in a few days). Are there any workaround for this? Like I can use external keyboard or maybe negotiate, anything else?

Have 50k in brokerage to put towards buying a place in Atlanta. Young 20 something who's lease is ending soon

Roth IRA and 401k are well funded but don't want to pull from there.

Should I buy and rent the extra bedrooms to friends, or stay renting and put savings in stock market?

What do most people invest in for their Roth IRA portfolio? I’ve heard target funds and ETF’s..which one is better?

This is gonna sound stupid, but I’m honest - I can’t do math. Calculating a tip is as advanced as I get. Thank god for excel formulas and a math savvy husband. At the end of the day, I pay all the bills (I know- but I’m more organized) and make double his salary, what low stress effort (on my limited math capacity brain) can I do to increase wealth?

I feel like I should be doing more with extra money to help us financially, but I’m scared of having to study stocks and understand the numbers. 😖

All these weddings are blowing my mind and budget. I've had 5 weddings so far this year with several more to go by EoY. On top of that I've been asked to be in a lot of them which adds additional time commitment and cost. The cost of a bachelor party + shitty men's warehouse suit rental + travel and airbnb for the weekend + couple hundred bucks for wedding gift means I'm blowing tons of money for these weddings but I feel bad to say no.

Whats the biggest tip you have for FIRE?

For me, I think “pay yourself first” is the most important. It forces me to save money first so I wouldn’t need to worry about making a budget for expenses, since I can see how much “disposable” money I have to spend.

I just started this recently. Each month, I allocate $1k of my pay to my brokerage acct and $1k to HYSA (to buy property). I max out 401k and do backdoor roth. And save all my bonus. So each yr, it’s around 70k: 24k + 20k + 6k + 20k bonus.

I’m guessing it could take me to 170ish with that schools I’m looking at but wondering if the 40-50 retirement range makes an mba not make sense since I’d only have 10-20 years to save vs 12-22.

Would have to finance the whole thing myself. Current net worth is 140k. Thoughts?
