Greetings from ATL
Hello Gang, I’m on the business side for Walmart right now. Walmart Global Tech recently offered me a role to move to the San Bruno office, but I’d be taking a demotion from L6 to E5. YOE: 8, COMP(200k base, 25% bonus, 100k RSU). Is this competitive in the bay? I have Doordash and Instacart in the pipeline, but no final offers yet.

Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

I’m not CLT based but fly there a lot. UA has a real problem in the Southeast because the Dulles hub is too far north for efficient connections in the region plus DL has the ATL mega hub and AA has the CLT mega hub. To fly UA anywhere south of Charlotte you have to route via Houston, Dulles or even O’Hare or Newark. Not a good way to get to Florida for instance.
My usual recommendation is that consultants focus on the airline with the highest market share at their home airport. Since AA basically owns CLT, with over 600 daily flights last I looked, AA is really the only game in town unless you just fly to UA hubs and expect that to continue. If you have to connect most everywhere you may get pressure from your teams to take nonstop flights anyway so you don’t get on site late or have to leave earlier than others.
I fly IAH-CLT. They’re the small regional planes which is annoying. Also annoying is that they usually have 6 first class seats and 35 people on the upgrade list lol
^P1 nailed it. I was 1k on United for years then moved to CLT and ended up switching to AA. I hate it - far inferior to UA - but it's really hard to maintain UA per reasons mentioned above.
If you are able to hold out on UA, the benefit is you will get upgraded almost every time since all the CLT frequent fliers are on AA.
