Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

I don’t want to be greedy during negotiations, and I also don’t want to sell myself short. I am hoping to get around $140k base + 15% bonus. I also want to be equitable with my peers. I have about 6 years experience and my Certified Scrum Product Owner certification.
Great question! I was looking at a Product Owner role with PwC in their IFS-IT area. I also have my CSPO with 12 years experience in Product Owner/Product Manager roles (20+ years in IT). I would suggest first asking the salary range for the position. Never be the first to put a number out there.
OAN: I would love to hear your experience with the application process. Thanks!
Sorry maybe a stupid question: but what does a Product Owner do? What are the main tasks? 🧐
It’s a role, traditionally in a Scrum team, that’s responsible for prioritizing the product backlog and implementing enhancements. It’s a more strategic role for software development and doesn’t get tied up in the technical details, although having an understanding of functionality is key.
They are responsible for the failure and success of the products they own. They convey their vision to others on the Scrum team.
I would ask for no less than 150k.
