Of course insurance companies will look for any reason not to pay. If you say “never” well, they’ll likely never find out—but with social media, who knows? I suppose if and when you’re life insurance policy is cashed in, you won’t be around to contest it.
Nightmare fuel.
Depends on what kind of drugs it was. I've worked with underwriters before.
For us, if it's weed, just admit it. Rating won't change much. Weed smokers are rated better than actual cigarette smokers.
If it's a hard drug, you probably should've waited until it was out of your system to do bloodwork. Many hard drugs can clear out of your body in less than a week. But give it 2 to be safe. If it's out of your system, it's fine to say no because it's very hard to find out. But it sounds like you already went through blood/urine.
No hair tests. Only blood and urine
They want people to lie on the form so they have a chance of proving the lie and not paying the policy proceeds when the time comes. There should be a law against this. For one thing, some drugs are illegal and asking someone to certify in writing either a lie or an admission of illegal activity is not ok. I think there are some ways to get life insurance, like through an employer, without having to make such a certification, but I don't know for sure. For instance, there are some life insurance policies that one can get w/o a medical exam and if the insurer isn't checking for ragingly obvious (to a doctor) medical problems, they might not be looking into drug use either. The best thing to do is to buy one's life insurance when one is really young and hasn't yet done much in the way of drinking, smoking, or drugs, but that ship sails really early in life.
Appreciate it, actually! 😂😂 It's an important thing to have.

Just here to say I have probably never done have of the listed drugs.
But tell the truth so they don't use the lie to invalidate your policy.
Damn that really sucks. There's nothing I can say here. I want to see how that plays out. Their claim was denied because it is believed she signed the policy for him, which imo, very hard to prove.
Also, AARP products are targeted toward the older population that are less healthy, with most payouts being less than 25k. So that's pretty sad. The application process for this product does not request medical records, medical record authorization, or a physical examination to get this kind of policy.
But after reading that, I would personally steer away from AARP products at NYL when it comes to my own family and friends.
Idk. But Drug testing nowadays for pot is so dumb.
Do not lie. That will give them the ability to come back after you die to do their due diligence and use the lie as an excuse to not pay out.
When I signed up for life insurance, I told them I had smoked pot last time X years ago. I got the best rating but they excluded claims based on death because of pot. I figure this is so remote of an option it means nothing.
Just be honest with the insurance company. It is illegal to lie on insurance forms. It is not illegal to say you did an illegal drug (possessing, selling, or manufacturing illegal drugs is illegal but having used them is not).
I haven't ever. Not worth lying and jeopardizing a potential payout.
