Put 12 years of my life into Marsh McLennan only to be told over the phone by some guy, with whom I’ve never met, that my job is being outsourced to Bogota and Mexico City. They would decide when my last day would be and that in order for me to receive any severance package I would need to train my replacement. No thanks, I found a better position within 2 weeks and am so much happier.
i worked there for 6 years and my advice is negotiate a good salaray from the beginning because if you don’t you will be stuck with little 3 percent raises even though you exceed expectations. I needed up leaving and am making $30k more
I did until today. What office location?
It’s in Illinois
The pros: I spent nearly a decade at Marsh, in the New York City office. It was one of the best organizations I’ve ever worked for: smart, eager, and mostly friendly people led by intelligent and genuine senior managers….. I was paid well and was afforded many opportunities to succeed. Now eve cons: Marsh can be cliquey and focused on the large, Fortune 100/500 accounts. RIFS happen periodically, so make sure that your salary and the income your accounts bring in are in a healthy relationship with each other
My wife worked there for 10 years. She was an account manager. She kind of liked it but the pay and upward trajectory were pretty crappy. She left and is doing roughly the same job at a different brokerage and gets paid about $15k more.
