Does everyone have an MBA? I work with a lot of people who just have bachelor's degrees which is crazy to me because I thought an MBA was necessary to be successful

MBAs are largely useless in terms of academic value. People do them for networking and bragging rights.

like

I have an MBA. Has done nothing.

like

You were brainwashed thinking an MBA is required to be successful.

like

It’s nice but not necessary. I think a law degree or cpa (preferably both) are much more useful with a lot more prestige

like

Most of the people I know in asset management, from PMs to traders, don’t have MBAs. That’s more of a banking/consulting thing

definitely not necessary to be successful lol. not sure where you got that preconception but you could also just be thinking narrowly in terms of occupation

The CFA is significantly more useful when it comes to landing better jobs. The MBA is just for bragging rights, it doesn't actually teach you anything

I have worked in marketing for about 6-7 years. First few years were in social media management. My goal is to work at a big tech company.

I’ve heard mixed results about the ROI of earning an MBA. My near future goal is to move into a Marketing Director (or senior manager) role.

1) How much does Google, Amazon, Microsoft, etc. value MBAs in the hiring process?

2) Anyone currently working at the companies above with only a BBA?

Current situation: Marketing Manager, 90k, NYC.

So I have family situation I've been dealing with and yesterday at a company function outside the office, my supervisor brought it up in front of a bunch of people. First of all highly inappropriate, but also it's nobody's business. She's made comments before outside of work about how her boss is gay, blah blah blah. I'm just at a loss. Should I report it to HR? And if I do, how do I do it without it being known that it came from me??

She seems like a nice person but i have 0 positive work feedback tbh

Just curious to how my firms (wealth management/bank/trust) comp compares with others out there. I received a promotion earlier this year from an Investment Advisor, AVP to Senior Investment Advisor, VP and moved from $110K to $140K ($130 salary + $10K discretionary bonus) all in. By meeting expectations in 2 pay cycles, the base bumps up to $175K + bonus. Grown in this role over about 10 years with the same firm, MBA + CFA; top 10 city and living comfortably as dual income household.

Curious what’s a fair salary in MA? Was just told that there is likely not going to be a chance for a raise during my upcoming performance review due to my salary already being “above average for the industry” based on my employer’s questionable research. I execute tasks from two investment advisors and two financial planners - they make the decisions of what should happen & I make it happen.

Due to obvious conditions my comp for the calendar year (salary+bonus) is back to 2017 levels although my overall sales are more than double and 1/3 less total comp than last year. It seems like comp opportunity is always decreasing during good times (I get it) but when it comes to adjusting during bad times, nothing was done. Is this normal for industry sales?
