Several years ago I was backing in South America and I met an older guy (50s) who introduced himself as a writer & producer in LA for a well-known early 2000s sitcom. He invited me to breakfast at his hotel, we ended up hanging out for a couple of days & he convinced me to let him take some nude photos, which was actually pretty fun. Despite his efforts I didn't sleep with him, even though he was really pushy.
I googled him recently and apparently he's been arrested for SA other women

I came to US on an L1b in 2018 and switched to H1b in 2021 Oct. Current 797/visa expiry is stated as July 2023, by which I would have spent 1.5 years on H1b visa (and 3.5 years on L1b before that). During h1b extension , will I get another 4.5 years of extension? How does extension work when u switch visas?

I overheard a small law firm owner saying he will never hire women because the last female attorney he hired ended up being pregnant, and left the firm immediately after her maternity leave was over. How is this kind of discrimination still going on? How could we address this? One thing I can think of is mandatory parental leave regardless of gender, but I doubt it’ll ever happen in the US.

I’m tempted to double dip with freelancing. Just started a 2 month contract on some very dull work. Been made clear it’s nothing worth showing in the book - plain web copy. But just now, this morning, accepted work from a much better shop, starting on a 2 week trial, on way better work. Want to take the risk for better work, but hate to lose the certainty of 2 months of work. My main fear isn’t bandwidth. It’s working the meetings with both interfere with each other.

Protip: If you're trying to get a referral/coffee chat at an obscure company or one that doesn't have a lot of Fishbowl user participation, you can "search" for the company name you're targeting, filter by "people," and now you see everyone on the app who works for that company. You can scroll down to the title most relevant to the position you're seeking, and cold message them for a referral. Just be extra polite, because you're reaching out to them, not the other way around. E.g., Starbucks:
