Does your school district train paraprofessionals? Especially the ones in sever ASD classrooms. If so how? Are there any great websites? Is anyone willing to share training PowerPoint slides? I’d like suggestions to bring to my supervisor on how to help training these new employees

We have AEA’s (area education agency) throughout the state. They have a Paraeducator certification course available.
I don’t think it really prepares you for the more severe classrooms.. that is best taught by having another take you under their wing and teach you all they know... and that’s what I strive to do in my school.

Our district does not. So I reached out to our local agency for disabled adults and they suggested to reach out to the local children’s hospital. They have tons of free resources for our state.
Children’s Mercy Hospital
Autism 360
Autism Speaks
Missouri Parents Act

Our district had to train the paras to be RBT- Registered Behavior Technicians and Job Coaches. There is ongoing cont ed for RBT on our own time of course, and the districts have not increased our hourly pay for this added training. As a result many of our paras have left to agencies that do 1:1 RBT w disabled adults that pay greatly

I know people who have had their town pay for the RBT training, then not increase their pay, only to have that person leave and get a job in another town, paying much more because they are RBT trained.

Ok. I am teaching music in person and when we have a case of COVID in the school, I push into the classroom for 10 days. Are there music websites that are free that I can go to for quick lessons when I’m asked to teach in the classroom. I was told today with 5 minutes to prepare that we had a case, I couldn’t teach in my room and I couldn’t do the ukulele unit I had planned. I had to think on the fly and quickly came up with a BrainPop for them. I’d like to find a few more music sites.

I work with a classroom of Middle School ED students. One student, who I worked with the year before, has changed alot over the year. Last year (pre COVID), she had a good head on her shoulders and I thought I had good rapor with her. But over that period of isolation, she tried to commit suicide.

All year, she was much more withdrawn and ALWAYS on her phone! At the end of the I was 'beat up by her - she really knocked my glasses off.

How should I approach her in the upcoming year?

McKinsey & Company How likely is McKinsey to rescind an offer if there's a recession/downturn before my start date? Received an Associate offer with a start date early in the Fall. But I'm worried about the offer being rescinded due to the ongoing McK scandals/issues and a potential recession in the making (which may prompt them to freeze hiring and/or renege offers).

Has this happened to anyone before at McKinsey, offer getting rescinded due to economic/company downturn? A bit worried

Going back to in-person learning has been quite a challenge. We have 4 in-person and 8 virtual. The 4 in-person have done as well as to be expected, however their behaviors have been less than desired. One is being considered for going back to virtual due to behaviors. It's next to impossible to expect them to keep masks on and when they do, they're usually nasty or wet. I have PPEs but things do happen in the spur of the moment and it's hard to stop and put on gloves and such.

Good morning. This is my 20th year as a AA Para. I have missed my students so much! However, I am a little nervous to return. I know I will protect myself, and I already constantly clean, but my k-3 babies will not wear a mask. I usually get a really bad cold at beginning of school year because of new germs. Anyone else a little nervous? Any suggestions?

I'm done getting paid 1/3 of the class teacher pay and expected to teach the lessons. The other Paras in the class seem to think this is normal. I certainly don't get the same respect as the teacher. Am I alone here?
