Although Amazon has instituted a hiring freeze and layoffs are probably on their way, I went through the loop for a security engineer position at AWS. Before I attended the final interviews, Amazon placed the hiring freeze and called me to ask if I wanted to go ahead or cancel my application. I decided do go ahead Right now I'm waiting for their response and the position I applied to changed from "under consideration" to "no longer under consideration". Thoughts?
Hi all, recently in touch by Spotify recruiter for a Sec Engineer position for remote EU and was told that range was 60-80 out of base salary and equity. Had 2 years of security experience out of my 4 years. Was also told that there is no bonus scheme or no sign in bonus 😕 Not sure how I feel about this tbh.
What do you think?

It does not, and the company is currently going down the drain
We have a MASSIVE amount of technical debt after years of “how high” when asked to jump mentally without real strategy or a roadmap with cross functional alignment. So it’s a bunch of pieced together disjointed processes and systems because the amount you produce ties to your year end bonus. The tech people recognize this, push for clean up and consolidation… but we’re met with you need to “innovate” which translates to produce new things and ignore the massive amount of crap your building new things on top of
Yep! When I joined they provided 20K after tax for relocation
They pull it forward from your end of year bonus
😳😅
I am not sure about relocation assistance, but if you are interviewing for a position in tech ops, that area is not in a good place right now. Overall, morale is low and the environment has become increasingly toxic and chaotic. Career development potential here is near zero, and management here treats people like pawns. Be prepared to be underpaid, overworked, and stressed out. Leadership is out of touch with lower-level employees, and recent RTO changes has everyone looking for jobs elsewhere. We have less work flexibility today than we had before Covid.
If flexibility and WLB are important to you, I cannot stress enough the extent to which blackrock will make you unhappy. We’re up to 4 days a week in from September (and it’s being phrased as ‘at least 4 days’, I.e. come in 5 days if you want to be promoted. FTO sounds great, but actually means people take less time off and the amount of time off you take will be used to determine promotions (despite the fact that you can’t take time off without manager approval).
Tech person here - I would not be overly pessimistic, the company is doing fine financially from what I see. However, the period is challenging as there is cost cutting, and a push to return to office, where people don't really see the reason, especially in tech. Not sure what your past experience is, but tech is not BlackRocks core business, and that can be seen in some decisions.
I still think there is a lot to learn here, and it can be a good move if you negotiate good terms.
