You’re either not valuable to your company and/or your job isnt that important if you’re able to take PTO and not at least send some e-mails.

You are either incapable of setting boundaries or really like supporting toxic work culture if you insist on sending emails during PTO.

Work is work and vacation is vacation.

Yeah, that real estate is going to get up and run away if you don't send that email while on vacation.

You sound like that one person that brags about how much PTO they didn’t use

likefunny

Haha those people always be having the weirdest flex like “ I work so Hard i haven’t seen my Kids in 3 weeks!!” Go home to your kids man its not that serious 😂

likefunny

Just what a replaceable analyst would say.....if you have to do work while you're on PTO, then you're not valuable enough to take PTO in your company's eyes.

like

Well I’m an exec at my company so I guess I shouldn’t ever take a day off and still respond to all emails I get everyday 🙄

likefunny

People with proper boundaries see this and just think that the person has no time management or delegation skills

like

Or you work at the wrong company lol your job should never be more important than your life

like

This is toxic 🤣🤣

like

I actually agree with you, especially if you work for a smaller company or on a smaller team that carries a large workload

Valid point, but also this type of environment is what some people would call toxic (I’m not quite that dramatic), and I would call fast track to burn out.

like

No. When you’re on vacation you don’t answer emails. If you’re that insecure that you’re scared to ensure someone else knows what you do enough for them to cover for you, that’s your issue.

If you do billable work on a given PTO/vacation day, do you still count that day as vacation? Or do you get that vacation day "back"? Or do you only get the part that you billed "back"? (Or some other option.)

Has anybody had to prepare them and what was the scenario?

For all you retail people...are you experiencing a very slow holiday season? I am a retail manager and I feel like this season has been freakishly slow. I thought we would at least match last year's number or be up a little bit but we are trending down. I talked to employees of other stores in the mall and they are saying the same thing. Is anyone else experiencing this in their market?

Partners - Do you ever take vacations?

I have been at my current firm for about 1.5 years, and in that entire time the partner in my group hasn't been out of the office a single time. Is that normal? I can't tell if it's standard for big law partners to not take time off, if the dynamics for my group may be different (only 1 partner in the entire group), or it the partner I work with is just a masochist.
