All great points but the issue of Schools remains.
The literal #1 reason people move to the 'burbs in the first place.
So NWI doesnt solve that at all.
It's really not even close.
I live there, it's not bad at all. Considering schools, there are plenty of areas with *decent* schools but they pale in comparison to what you will find in Chicago or even it's suburbs. But I am a single male and still wouldn't move to Illinois solely for that reason. It's also not bad if you aren't on the bench often and don't have to make the extended commute. I really don't have much to complain about at all, the beach is 5 minutes away, I pay very little rent for a lot of space in a very safe area. Having said that we don't like you Chicagoans and don't want you ruining our good lives, please stay away (I'm kidding but this is the actual sentiment).
The state of Illinois is the worst, I say we propose a plan where either Indiana, Michigan, or Wisconsin adopt the greater Chicago area.
and be a region rat? blech
The unsaid benefit is that it's really green, beautiful and peaceful. Plus there are lots of breweries around.
Iowa and Wisconsin have lower taxes cheaper real estate. not sure how much is it worked to live there for2÷ savings.
If it’s something you care about, the political demo in NWI Indiana is rather different than alternatives in Chicago burbs like all of the North Shore as well as much of the western suburbs. S/SW burbs would be more analogous.
Also Coach USA to ORD isn’t terrible, but it’s definitely a haul from NWI. Assuming you live a little into NWI (because the burbs right on the border are NOT great), probably over 1.5 hours on average.
