So who else is at Hilton Orlando this week?
RIP Hank Aaron ⚾️
Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

This is gonna sound like weird advice but, just stop caring. As long as your work is air tight the rest shouldn't matter. How sad must a persons life be they have to me outright mean to another person they work with. I had a nightmare of an MD yell at me constantly. Just brushed his attitude off and did my work. Partner loved me hated him.
Been there. Caused a lot of stress that it exacerbated my TMJ and I had to get a night guard. Start documenting the issue and then let your project lead/project manager know. For me it resulted in my project lead discussing the issue with the client lead. The client lead stepped in, I was told I'd don't have tobe in the same room alone with the client counterpart and all future requests were done via email to avoid the outright aggressive and demeaning personal confrontations. I know sucking it up I the normal route but homeboy threw a chair, don't let things escalate.
Happen to me yesterday and for the first time in my 3 years work made me cry
Omg A3- I would not suck it up for that behavior for one minute. You did exactly the right thing!
Have been there. It was because of my manager. She eventually left the project, but i know for a fact that the stress of the situation gave me medical issues. Sorry for you. Hang in there. D1 is actually right. There are literally psychology articles written about how to get revenge at work without getting caught and they follow something a lot like that
OP you gonna need to separate your emotions from your work / job. Changing proj is the short term cure but what if you run into a similar client next time? Sounds weird I know bc work is supposed to give you sense of achievement and satisfaction. BIG LIE. Get yourself a "call option" for your job-related emotional state, i.e. If it's a happy day at work, it's a happy day, or else it's just one of the many normal days in our lives. No biggie.
Hugs C1- that sucks.
@C1 that's awful. Message me if you want to talk about it. No one should have to face that crap
Maybe when they do those wellness surveys, they should ask: in the past year, have you had to get a new mouth guard due to work stress?
Karma is a bitch. Wait till right moment and when you have full strength and the client is at his/her weakest situation unleash your wrath that leaves an irreparable damage (not physically).
Or explain it to the rest of us with at least some detail. Then we can give better advice!
That was me last week but a slightly different situation because it was the work not people. I agree though, stop caring about what they say, it's tough and I still have a hard time with brushing it off.
So sorry to hear. I've been there, too. I just kept on reminding myself "I'll become super successful and you bitch will have to beg a job from me". It may not help much but hope you feel better.
I saw my SM ending up crying after being scolded harsh by a super fierce client
^ @ C1, hugs
A3 I had brought on TMJ for me
I also had to get a new mouth guard due to my evil SM. I cracked through my old one! 😢
I don't know E3- there is such a thing as work place abuse and high compensation (which is not the case for all of us) only goes so far. There are legit lines to cross, which is prob why the recent HBR cover article is "how to work with a toxic co-worker." You're right that we're not humanitarian workers getting shot at in Juba, but there are people who abuse their power and their underlings to the point where it causes medical issues. We should be able to go to work without it negatively impacting our health, to an extent
Honestly, start to look for other projects. This is not worth it no matter what career reasons why you think that you need to stay. By looking for other projects, you could regain a sense of control, which could help with coping with this situation. I'm angry for you!
Wear a helmet - lifes hard. Clients beat us up and you signed up for it.
