Every firm says they want “immediate availability” but then take 3 weeks just to schedule a screening call. I’m trying to laugh it off and stay patient but the delays make me second-guess whether they’re even organized. Are you all experiencing this lag as well?

Sometimes they may just want to talk to a few more people. The market is flooded right now with great candidates (and I'm sure you are one of them!), so I think it's best to just move on and if you hear back and still available, great!

Hiring isn’t billable. Pretty much as simple as that. Most firms are a shitshow at anything that isn’t legal work.

like

This + sometimes the hire is for the exact reason of helping them stop being underwater but the hiring process itself adds to all the things driving them underwater too. Patience is worth it for the right offer in that context.

I've never had a firm tell me they expected me to be available immediately. They all understood that I needed time to put in my notice and hand off my cases.

It takes time. The concept of their rush to hire and yours will always be different.

Not sure if this is okay to ask: anyone have experience refinancing a car loan? Having a difficult time getting a copy of the title from my current lender (so the new lender can pay it off) and I’m not sure if I have any other options.

I just got into reading books, any suggestions to start with? Which could help to increase media/marketing knowledge.

I’m relocating to London and would love to hear recommendations on neighborhoods. I am looking for an “urban village” feel (small coffee shops, not very touristy, can walk a dog and stroller) with a budget of 3K for a 1-2 bdr. My commute would be into Soho. I am currently looking at Notting Hill, Chelsea, and St John Woods, but I won’t be able to visit before my move. Any neighborhood recs?

What would you say is the difference between a billable hour target vs. minimum? I feel like some firms boast about not having a “minimum” but the expectation is that you to exceed this target which just makes it a minimum.
