Every time I’ve had to learn a new technique, I forget how steep the learning curve can be at the beginning. Things that look straightforward in a methods section can take weeks to get right in practice. It’s a humbling process every time. What’s a technique that took you much longer to master than you expected?

Letting myself fumble through and mess up while learning. It’s easy to want to give up, but you aren’t gaining anything without doing it, and making those mistakes while learning.

Time blocking. I read some article on it, figured it'd be good for my ADHD brain, and started trying to do the whole "focus for 40 minutes on one thing" thing. Turns out that's a lot harder to do than I thought. I had to start small with 15 minute increments before working my way up. Glad I did it though, it really has helped with my productivity.

Hey all, having issues with interviewing this year. I’ve been passed over every opportunity I really want and I’m unsure how to regroup and move forward. A lot of my HPLC and LCMS experience is with already established methods. Any tips?
