I think it’s that we’re used to going to our partners with that kind of thing, so we don’t usually think about sharing ideas/inspiration with other writers unless it’s something very writer-specific. (I do think it would be valuable though!)
I liken it to watching Mad Men. Do I really want to watch a show about work? Slack sharing can feel less like something fun, entertaining and open sourcing, and like another work project.
It's an odd idea, what do you share, your own ideas or articles/ads? Also why only copy team, feels like a bit of a dis 🤔
Would it hurt to share something back?
Share inspiration in person. Slide over in your rolly chair and say you gotta check out this new thingy mah jiggy. Or get everyone together over beer time/lunch. Create real conversations
AD1, I think it was meant to create a sense of connection with the copy team and to share copywriting inspiration.
I’m not looking for advice, just wondering if others experienced a lack of camaraderie with their copy team.
I started one at our agency for those shitty writing assignments (social, banners, web, etc). Basically pitched it like this: s/he who doesn't contribute gets the full assignment the next go-around, rather than the easier shared responsibility. I usually kick it off with a "beat this" challenge.
