I'm 6 months new to the company, my other co-worker has been here 5 years. We are on a creative in house team of 10 people. Everyone on this team except for us has the ability to work from home or remote at their convenience. The company provides them with laptops and whatnot to make this happen. Boss promised to make this happen for the two of us, as we are the only one without the ability to do so, and today he told us there's no budget for it. I explained that I have my own computer, laptop, etc at home and could work just fine (I do extra work at home most of the time to meet tight deadlines anyways) but it's against the company's policy for me to work on my own equipment if I were to be "remote" sometimes. This is really frustrating, as everyone but us can enjoy the perk.
I don't know how to help fix your problem, but I did want to let you know that based on how a lot of places install background or productivity apps on electronics them asking you to not use your personal laptop is likely a blessing in disguise
