Nice try Jake
👆I’m a producer and am legit asking this q. Although, I do love Jake.
I love Reps, the good ones don’t over sell or send reels that have nothing to do with your board and the good ones also don’t participate in sharing your lead in the “rep pipeline”...
I love reps, they always know all the details on the new and up and coming. Biggest strength
is a rep who looks at the board, asks questions and sends over curated reels for the job. Biggest con, is when they send you stock reels that don't apply to your job. How could I ever share that with my creative directors? I'll keep coming back to those who send thoughtful picks, those who don't, you probably won't be hearing from me.
Pros - best source of intel at other agencies. Good ones show appropriate directors for your specs when searching.
Don’t really have any Cons. I know sometimes their diligence can be annoying - but that’s just them doing their jobs.
They forgot quality... and their networking is annoying in some way.
Cons:
*some are very sales-y
*They all talk so when they get a project in and if you only want certain companies / directors see, you’ll inevitably get calls email and reels from reps you didn’t want to have the boards.
*Some don’t really look at the creative and will just start peppering your email with directors who aren’t a right for the job
*Some pass on boards before even sending to the Production Company EPs. (We’re not dumb guys!)
Pros
*They know what’s going on in the industry
*I’ve gotten 2 jobs because of reps recommending me before a job opening went public. (So be nice to them!)
*Most are awesome people and will help agency people in a pinch - New business help, introductions
Thanks all!
