Was a partner in consulting, left to a role outside of consulting.
Just cleared 1.3m in cash this year plus long term compensation. About 18-20 YOE
Thanks D1 👍🏻
I was exactly where you are right now a few months ago. I changed where I was looking and it worked out. Earlier I was chasing tech exits when my profile was probably too senior for a manager role at google. They won’t give me more than 180 base. 15-25% bonus and RSUs - overall a 270-280K TC.
Then I started applying to roles that were fit for my profile - commercial strategy experience in Healthcare with a solid background in analytics.
Now I’m exiting to Director role - 240 base, 20% bonus, $40k annual equity and $75K joining bonus. It’s a growing team and if I play my cards right I can become Sr. Director in two years.
Change where you are looking
EM. To be more specific senior EM. Been EM for 2 years now

Yeah they’re out there. Large portion will be RSUs most likely
The big tech are still paying a lot I guess it depends where you’re trying to go and the role. I know that Google has made some cuts but there are other technology companies still paying a lot like salesforce. Fin tech is really hot for example Stripe paying record salaries

Eh something is wrong here. 250 range is exiting at consultant 5-7 YOE for HCOL. 300 should be well within range, 350 too.
Re-evaluate the levels you are applying for. Some places overinflate therefore mgr. or sr. Mgr is not what you think it is. Check what levels people at your consulting tenure exit to.
If it’s not HCOL you might have to adjust expectations as well, but 300 still realistic.
Target places where you bring relevant experience, ie financial services to fintech. Companies will value you more for that.
One correction- I’ll say the figures I’ve getting are around 250-300ish (for example an L6 role Amazon)
My original expectations was 350-400 to make a move but may need to consider adjusting to 300-350.
Update: After some persistence and patience, received a 360k offer from AWS
Non tech - BD
In strategy, absolutely

I am also a S& SM, and F500 strategy offers have mostly been in the 250-300TC range. Some 325-350 but it was rare.
A few tech roles I interviewed for ranged from 280TC to 325 or so
Recently exited to tech @ $300K in total comp. Someone mentioned in some other post that Twilio was also doing ~$300K.
